We regret the passing, on April 11, 2024, of the distinguished Romanian author and critic Dan Cristea, who served as the editor in chief of the Luceafărul de Dimineață cultural monthly. In addition to being an alum of the 1985 Fall Residency, Cristea received his PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Iowa.

(novelist, Germany) was born in Višegrad, Bosnia. In 1992, his family escaped the war and came to Germany. He has authored a novel, several audioplays, short stories, poems, essays and translations. How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone, his first novel, was published in 2006 to wide acclaim. Translations into 21 languages are forthcoming. Stanisic is now working on a play and his second novel.
