Creative Cities Network
Together with the Office of the Mayor of Iowa City and colleagues from local writing institutions, IWPsubmitted an application to UNESCO in December 2007 for Iowa City to join the Creative Cities network under the rubric of Literature. November 20, 2009 the Director-General of UNESCO notified us that Iowa City had been nominated as the first American City of Literature of the Creative Cities Network. Edinburgh and Melbourne are the other two Cities of Literature.
