Anat PICK (sound-text performance artist; Israel) began her career as a pianist, eventually branching out to develop a repertoire of innovative language-oriented performance, one elaborating from the base of a phonetic mixture of eastern and western languages. For the past decade, Pick has given concerts across Israel, the Far East, and Europe. Her many collaborations with other artists and musicians have involved a variety of forms, including spoken word and free-improvisation. She maintains an intense interest in the performance of Dada sound poetry. Pick lives in Tel Aviv and participates courtesy of the Foundation for Jewish Culture, and the University of Iowa Louis Schulman Hillel.
Two phonetic poems: "Love/fear" & "Legend"
These poems are two out of nine rapidly-changing, imaginary dramatic scenes, which form a vocal-instrumental work, called “Cartoons” (2005-8).
The music, created by Israeli composer Menahem Zur, for a large ensemble, is inspired by the soundtracks of animated films. Indications of changes of moods within the sections, played as guide lines for the text to follow.
The lines of recitation were written by me as Sound Poem cycle. Each textual unit is independently characterized in response to the music, and is self-contained.

The Composer’s Shoes, 2003
The Composer's Shoes is a spoken word poem, to be recited in synchronization with Chants - an electro acoustic piece by Menahem Zur. (1975)
The poem reflects my analysis of Chants as observed from both the composer’s point of view (the right shoe) and from my own point of view (the left shoe).
