Fatena ALGHORRA (poet, journalist; Belgium) has four books of poetry: two were translated, one winning a prize for best Arabic translation into Italian. A fifth volume will appear in Arabic and in Dutch. Her work appears in the anthology Fifty Years of Palestinian Poets. In 2012 she won the El Hizjra prize for Dutch language writers of diverse background. After a career in broadcasting in Gaza, she is now a freelance journalist for Al Jazeera, a lecturer, a performer, and the organizer of poetry events in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Ghassan ZAQTAN (poet, West Bank; b. 1954, Beit Jala) is co-founder and director of the House of Poetry in Ramallah. He is chief editor for the Al-Shua'ra (Poets) quarterly and writes weekly columns for two newspapers in Ramallah and in the Gulf. His poetry collections include Luring the Mountain in Beirut (1999); Prescription of a Description in Jerusalem (1998) and Weightless Sky (1980). His novel, Describing the Past, was published in Jordan in 1995. Mr. Zaqatan has also written a number of scripts for various film documentaries.

Mahmoud SHUQAIR (fiction writer, playwright, West Bank/Palestine; born 1941, Sawahra) has published numerous books of fiction for adults and children, including, most recently, Qalat Marian, Qalalfata (Said Marian, Said the Boy, The Union of Palestinian Writers, 1996) and Oghniet Al Mahar (The Song of Oysters, Dar Al-Quds, 1995). He is currently working on a novel, Al-Madina Thatafajren Ba'Id (The City of Faraway Dawn), as well as an autobiography and scripts for five television series.

Mazen A.I. SA’ADEH has published two novels, written five plays, and worked on several films as writer and director. His most recent project, My Friend, My Enemy (2004), is a documentary about friendships between Palestinian and Israeli women. In 2004, he co-founded the Open Workshop for Culture and the Arts in Palestine, an organization that encourages cultural exchange between Palestine and the global community through art. She works for an Israeli-Palestinian NGO, ‘Windows,’ whose educational and cultural programs aim to promote understanding, and reconciliation between the people from both nations. She is a translator for Windows’ bi-lingual youth magazine, and contributes articles to the book supplement of Ha’aretz newspaper and the literary journal Ma’ayan. She is writing a novel about life in Jaffa.
