Jana BEŇOVÁ (poet, fiction writer; Slovakia) has written three books of poetry: Svetloplachý (1993), Lonochod (1997) and Nehota (1997). Beňová has also published the short story collection Dvanásť poviedok a Ján Med (2003), an essay collection, and the novels Parker (2000) and Plán odprevádzania (Café Hyena) [Seeing People Off] (2008); her most recent novel, Preč! Preč! [Away! Away!] was published earlier this year. Beňová currently works as an editor at the Slovak Theatre Institute.

Peter MACSOVSZKY (born in Nove Zamky, 1966) is editor of the literary magazine Dotyky and a lecturer at the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra, where he teaches esthetics and literary criticism; he is also working on the encyclopedia Belidiana at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He has three published books of poetry, Fear of Utopia (1994); Ambit (1995); Autopsy (1997).

Michal HVORECKÝ is a prize-winning short-story writer, whose work has also appeared in German, Hungarian, Polish, Spanish, Slovenian and English. His second book, Hunters & Gatherers (2001), was the prose bestseller of the year in Slovakia, garnering considerable media attention; it was published in a Czech translation in 2003 by Odeon, followed by a German edition. His third book, the novel, The Final Hit, appeared last year. He is participating courtesy of the Department of State.
