Sushma Joshi

Sushma JOSHI (fiction/nonfiction writer, filmmaker; Nepal) has a BA from Brown University, and an MA in English Literature from Middlebury College, Vermont (USA). Her first book, The End of the World, was longlisted for the Frank O'Connor Short Story Award in 2009. The Prediction, which includes the story "The Discovery of the High Lama," was published in 2013. Art Matters, a book about contemporary art in Kathmandu, was published in 2008. Her short films ("The Escape", "A Nepali Emigre in Paris") and documentaries (Water, Burma on My Mind and Supportive Men) have been shown at various film festivals, including the Berlinale's Talent Campus, the UN World Water Forum, and on the Q and A with Riz Khan on CNN International, amongst others. Sushma Joshi lives in Kathmandu.
