The International Writing Program (IWP) is excited to announce the publication of Guide to a Fall, a meditation on and exploration of Iowa City as witnessed by its authors, Nada Alturki and Felipe Franco Munhoz. Participants in the IWP’s Fall Residency, staff at the International Writing Program, and listeners of Iowa Public Radio’s River to River enjoyed early glimpses of Guide to a Fall, which Alturki and Franco Munhoz wrote in a collaboration that began during the 2024 Fall Residency and continued after its conclusion. One-of-a-kind international writing projects like this are exactly the kind of work that the IWP aims to facilitate during each year’s Fall Residency, and we very much appreciate the support of the Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, which made the program and this publication possible.
This edition will be a special, limited printing, distributed by hand at upcoming IWP Lines & Spaces programming and available for borrowing at the University of Iowa Main Library. We are optimistic it will become more widely available in the future.
