Eddin Bu-Eng KHOO (journalist; Malaysia) has been deeply involved in preserving the heritage of Malay culture, particularly through his writing. As a journalist with The Star, Malaysia's largest circulation English newspaper, Mr. Khoo has written many articles about the arts and traditions of Malaysia and worked intimately with prominent Malaysian artists who focus on cultural traditions. Among his publications is a book of selected writings by the Malaysian artist and critic Ismail Zain, Intermediations: Selected Writings on Art, co-edited with the art historian T.K Sabapathy and a book on traditional Malay Wood Carving, The Spirit of Wood, co-authored with the historian Farish Noor, as well as a translation of poems into Malay, Sajak-Sajak by the American poet Christopher Merrill. Currently, Mr. Khoo is the founder and assistant director of Pusaka, a non-profit organization, that works to support the continuity and viability of traditional performance arts in Malaysia.
