In addition to becoming the Berlin LitFest’s first curator-in-residence, Helon Habila has also just received Kaduna Books and Art Festival’s KabaFest Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his "exceptional writing and significant contributions to the development of literature globally."
As part of the IWP's "100 Words Project," writers from around the world have been invited to meditate on a given theme. This year's theme is "Peace/War." Each writer has responded to the theme by composing an original text of around 100 words. In these videos, the writers read and present their texts aloud. Poet and critic Stephanos Stephanides (Cyprus) has contributed this video for the project. 100 Words is made possible through a grant from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State
